Skip the South of France. Try Zimbabwe! – By NICHOLAS KRISTOF

So what are the great places to visit in Africa? It surprises people to hear it, but Zimbabwe is very high on the list – and now that I’ve just returned from a week there with my family, I feel that more strongly than ever.

True, President Robert Mugabe is a tyrant who has mismanaged the country, and his relations with the United States are deeply strained. But Zimbabwe has little crime and people are friendly, and the sights are simply astounding – with hardly any tourists around to admire them. It’s also cheaper than other countries in the region. Scottish Parliament Honours David Livingstone

THE Scottish Parliament have honoured Blantyre’s most famous son.
Committee room six at the Holyrood complex is to be named after David Livingstone.

The Scottish Parliament authorities agreed to the move after accepting a suggestion that each of the Parliament’s six committees rooms should be named in commemoration of a historical figure who made a significant contribution to Scotland. View the rest of the article
